Selected candidate for admission can pay their admission fees either in cash or through a Bank Draft in favour of “The Principal, Govt. Banikanta College of Teacher Education, Guwahati-7.
WORKING HOURS :
The working hours of the college starts at 9-45 AM and continues up to 4.30 PM from Monday to Saturday except holidays as per Gauhati University notification.
Regular classes will start as per Gauhati University notification.A copy of the college Academic Calendar of each session will be provided to each student at the time of the Induction meeting so that he/she can be aware of all the activities of the college for smooth running of the college throughout the academic year.
IDENTITY CARD :
An Identity Card will be issued by the college at the time of admission which will be filled up by the candidate and duly signed from the principal of the college.
HOSTEL FACILITIES & RULES:
The College has one Men and one Women hostel within the college campus. The hostel building for gents is a two-storied building with the accommodations of 42 seats out of which 21 seats are allotted to B.Ed.1st year and the remaining 21 seats are allotted to B.Ed. 2nd year deputed teachers only.
The women’s hostel is one storied building consisting only 11 seats capacity. Both the hostels are separated by high boundary and also providing adjacent rooms for cooking, dining, toilet and guests.
Hostel seats are allotted against a separate application to the principal within seven days of admission. Hostel boarders are selected on the basis of distance of the college from their residence. After being selected for the hostel seat, a student will have to pay fee for hostel admission, which includes seat rent, electricity, utensils and other miscellaneous charges for the academic year.
All the boarders are to maintain strict discipline as per hostel rules. Violation of rules bring disciplinary action (such as expulsion from hostel and college) taken by the authority.
The college Library has a big collection of nearly 7000 books including text books; reference books mostly related to education, philosophy, psychology, literatures, ICT, and secondary school subjects like mathematics, science, social science, geography, history etc. Besides these, four local daily news papers of both Assamese and English and few national magazines with educational value are also available in the library.
A trainee can borrow one book for a week. The borrower will be responsible for the loss or damage of any book and will have to pay the cost of the book.
A student must attend 75% of the total no of classes in each subject to be eligible to appear in the B.Ed. Examination (both 1st & 2nd year) conducted by the Gauhati University.
Trainees who fail to attend their classes over a certain period of time due to some unavoidable circumstances should give written information immediately to the Principal along with valid/genuine documents.
CO-CURRICULAR & EXTRA CURRICUAR ACTIVITIES :
Various non-scholastic activities such as games and sports, music, literary and cultural activities like wall magazine & magazine, debate, extempore, academic visits, National Science Day, world environment. Day, Banikanta Divas, National Educational. Day etc. are celebrated throughout the year. Considering the Trainees of the college as the in-service and pre-service Trainees, they are encouraged to take active part in all types of programmes for their successful in all activities. The aim of Banikanta College of Teacher Education is to make teachers professionally competent, socially conscious and committed towards human resource development as a whole.
